Sometimes a day of fishing here in Alaska turns into a few hours of adventuring on the lake's shore for  me.  This is  Long lake, just a little more than an hour away from home in Palmer  AK.  To get to Long Lake , you take The old Glenn highway which is a wonderful narrow winding road that leads out of Palmer.  Curiosity flows through my veins as I look about me and think to myself, I wonder what is beyond and around the bend or over the hill or mountain.   There was a little trail that led away from the lake, not more than a foot wide, that caught my attention and a few minutes later, I found myself surrounded in the filtered sunlight of golden leaves sheltering the white Birch bark below and the dark reds and greens of the underbrush of  cranberry bushes.
